The move-in teams for the KUBS Startup Station under Korea University Business School are finalized. The 2016 Startup Express, held in Hyundai Motor Hall on July 1 at 3:00 PM, was filled with excitement from prospective entrepreneurs presenting creative business items.
A total of 50 persons, including Associate Dean Myeong-Hyeon Cho, KUBS Startup Station members (Professor Ho-Won Jung, Professor Hicheon Kim, Professor Dae Il Nam, Research Professor Doyoon Kim), Hyunwook Yoo (director at Iljin Group), Jung Yeol Seo (paten attorney at Su Intellectual Property), Seung Yong Song (head of KU Holdings), Hyung Seok Kim (Chief of KU Business Research Association) were present at the event, hosted by the KUBS Startup Station and supervised by the Iljin Startup Incubation Center.
“I want to thank all teams for their interest and participation in the 2016 Startup Express,” Associate Dean Myeong-Hyeon Cho said in his congratulatory remarks. “I strongly believed the KUBS Startup Station will be a wonderful opportunity for youth wishing to be a future entrepreneur.”

The four winning teams of the 2016 Startup Express are △HIMS (Grand Prize) △Taling (First Prize) △CICERON (Encouragement Award), and △SupportUS (KU Business Research Award). The winners qualify to move into the Iljin Startup Incubation Center, which will be open on the second floor of KUBS Main Building in September. Moreover, after the move-in, the teams not only receive the budget for operating expenses needed for the startup activities, but also the systematic startup education and support, along with the continued feedback and funds from mentors consisting of △senior entrepreneurs, △industrial experts, △venture capitalists, etc.
“I am very pleased to hear that our business item, which has been led by my team for two years, has won the award in a startup competition hosted by my alma mater, KUBS,” Yeo Jin Park (Business Administration, ’13), a member of the
HIMS
team who won grand prize, said. “With school’s support and advice from seniors, we hope to continuously develop our business.”
Meanwhile, the students from 21 universities in 4 nations participated in the 2016 Startup Express. A total of 43 teams applied for the competition, and only top 9 teams with growth potential had a chance to introduce their business item. The judges selected final teams based on the following evaluation criteria: △creativity, △feasibility of business model, △business valuation, △research and analysis, etc.
